Brian Lee started Liquid Strings in 2007 with a strong focus on string quartets as he had been playing in wedding quartets as a violinist for several years. With respect to all other combinations of instruments, string quartet works amazingly well for this, especially for romantic songs – but also for fun ones as well (we did Ski Sunday for one wedding where an avid skiing couple wanted to enter the ceremony venue together on skis!).
Then after the ceremony, the quartet playing recognisable pop tunes – think Pharrell, Ed Sheeran or Mark Ronson, as well as cool retro ones – ELO, Toto and Human League for example. We also play popular television and movie themes, such as the Game of Thrones and Skyfall which always create a great, fun atmosphere in which to relax and celebrate the wedding. All this from the one act. It’s why we keep getting regular bookings.”
