Luxury Christmas Wedding at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel

It was initially designed in the late 1800s by famed architect Sir George Gilbert Scott as a dream Hotel to serve the Midland Railways passengers commuting to and from London Kings Cross; over the years the hotel was awed, loved, abandoned, almost destroyed and finally brought back to its original splendor only a decade ago…a story of eternal Love, just like your one.

The Hotel Staircase

My favorite location in the Hotel is the grand staircase, a hidden gem that unfolds over three floors of true awesomeness! If you are a lover of colors and contrasts you will be charmed by the vivid red painted walls, the colorful Persian carpet and the love heart motifs in cast iron spreading on the entire staircase rail. On first viewing of this splendid piece of artistry, I was inspired to create my own bridal shoot here, envisioning a fairytale themed wedding with a Christmas feel, for the modern yet romantic Bride, dreaming of an authentic location to celebrate her special day.

The Bride

Model and modern lifestyle blogger Ophelie at Ophelie’s Journey made the perfect Bride for the look I had in mind. Her graceful figure combined with her elegant looks emanates simplicity with a timeless charm. Together we enjoyed exploring the stairwell in search for the perfect shots!

The Bridal Gown

Since starting my career as a wedding photographer I have always admired the chic and romantic style of Le Spose di Gio’. This particular wedding gown from their new collection is the ideal complement for the location. The multi-layered organza dress coupled with a large laced back bow brings a true fairytale mood to the shoot!

The Bouquet

I knew that Shilpa at Shilpa Reddy Flowers would have come up with the perfect wedding bouquet. Shilpa caters for luxury & non traditional city weddings and she loved the overall mood of the photoshoot. Her choice of cream-white roses makes it a stylish complement to a wedding celebrated in a lush venue.

The Photoshoot

As a wedding photographer I come prepared to cope with different lighting situations to portray my couples at best, often against backdrops that I don’t have the chance to preview. Wherever is possible I will make use of natural light, although I always bring a few additional light sources, that I find essential towards creating stunning bridal photographs. On this occasion I combined battery powered continuous daylights with the available light coming respectively from the lamp posts, the lights on the walls and the natural light source coming from the window, which created pleasant results on the Bride as we were moving along the staircase.

Outside St Pancras Renaissance Hotel

Ophelie was brave to cope with the winter breeze, so we decided to extend our session outside the Hotel for some bridal portraits by the awesome Christmas trees that ornate the Hotel Main Entrance. Your wedding will be an unforgettable day all year round here at St Pancras Hotel, although we think that at Christmas it will add a truly magical feel to your unique day.
